mysteryhouse is me, blair
I'm an award-winning filmmaker + writer who's worked with Vogue, Netflix, Target, and many more.
A multiplatform authority on America’s most unique places long before launching a TikTok in 2025, I’ve partnered with Atlas Obscura on multiple documentary projects, including a national, cross-country campaign with the US Tourism Board, and my feature Weird Wild USA remains one of the most expansive “weird travel” spreads ever published in a major magazine.
Tiktok
A guide to the most unique places and people in America.
Like a diner hidden in the back of an old pharmacy in Beverly Hills, a 3D museum tucked behind a gas station, or a man named Stan, who’s been turning his living room into a classical music venue for over 40 years.
Real life impact
Jazzi, Rep Club
“Blair’s chaotic, authentic, and intentional storytelling easily elicited the kind of genuine, local, cultural curiosity money just can't buy and legacy media can't fake.
A quick and painless few minutes of filming reached values-aligned locals and made a meaningful impact on our business. A beloved pop star even came by for a visit after seeing our viral Mysteryhouse moment! Thank you Blair!”
Joyce, Bimbim Paws
“Blair has greatly helped our little dog cafe get the views it needed to be seen. Her video generated customers and even helped some of our dogs get adopted. Thank you again for giving us the jumpstart we needed.”
Ken, International Banana Club
“More people joined the club after seeing her video on TikTok then when I was featured on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno!”
Substack
Same focus on the hidden and unusual, but already through a fully national lens.
I’ve written long-form pieces on fantasy festivals in upstate New York, odes to theme motels in Wisconsin, and—every month—feature a guide to a new American city, with picks from locals and obscure town lore that actually makes you want to book a flight.
Why you should pick ME
Audiences can tell when something is genuine or not, and I'm not an influencer pretending to like all this for views. I think that authenticity—combined with an encyclopedic, nationwide knowledge of unusual Americana and a decade in the traditional media world—is what gives me the reach of a much larger creator.
Plus, most "off the beaten path" travel content tends to be aimed at male audiences, with almost no alternative travel content aimed at young, female travelers.
There’s both an information and permission gap—women aren’t organically finding these places, and they don't feel invited to go.
